About Macarron Scuba
We welcome you to Galápagos and to our dive store where we offer you all the services that you deserve. Our service is always responsible, professional, and punctual. Remember that the dives you do with us will be practical, safe, and fun.
Macarron's Scuba Diver was founded in 2006. The name of the dive center comes from the owner's nickname. Juan Carlos Moncayo is called Macarron by everyone on the Galápagos islands. He is the only dive shop owner on the islands who regularly goes diving with his customers.
Macarron was born in the Galápagos and he worked for 16 years as a fisherman before starting his dive career in 1985. After discovering the marvelous world of diving, he worked at another dive store, Scuba Iguana, as a guide and instructor. After that, he began leading independently as a guide for dive boats in Darwin and Wolf islands. While guiding, Macarron dreamed of opening his own dive store where he would be able to teach both locals and visitors how to dive and give them the opportunity to discover the magnificence of Galápagos underwater.
Now that his dream is a reality, the dive center not only serves tourists, but also helps fishermen from the Galápagos learn to dive. This way, fishermen can become guides and be a part of sustainable development on the islands. So far, we have taught more than 50 fishermen to dive, and 8 to be professional guides.
We strive to be the first in Galápagos in service, quality, professionalism, and in diving fun. We want you to enjoy Galápagos in a way that is practical, fun, and safe. Our mission is to teach divers to care for the environment while having fun and developing their diving skills. The center is always growing and changing in order to achieve these goals.
